The River SpeyThe River Spey is one of Scotland's most beautiful, classic rivers. It is also the fastest flowing river in the UK (from source to mouth) and flows about 80 Miles from deep in the Highlands to the Moray coast at Spey Bay. Along with its outstanding beauty and great range of wildlife, the River Spey also has the excitement of rapids of up to Grade 2. Ardenbeg offers one, two and three day canoe trips on the River Spey for groups of up to 6 people. No previous canoeing experience is necessary as our fully qualified instructors will teach you everything you need to know: 1 Day Trip: You will canoe from Boat of Garten to Cromdale Island on mostly flat water through beautiful and tranquil surroundings. Our knowledgeable instructor will teach you the canoeing skills you need to enjoy the trip in safety and will be happy to share his/her local and environmental knowledge with you along the way. 2 Day Trip: Paddle from Boat of Garten to Cromdale Island, you will then set up camp for the night on or near Cromdale Island. The next day after a well-earned rest you will be ready to canoe from the island to Craigellachie - this section includes some grade 2 rapids which the instructor will ensure you are prepared for. 3 Day Trip: The first 2 days will be as above and you will set up camp when you arrive at Craigellachie. On day 3 you will paddle all the way to the crashing waves of the sea at Spey Bay - this section of river has a few small rapids to negotiate, continuing natural beauty and the satisfaction of knowing that you have nearly completed The 3 Day Spey Descent! All of the above trips are dependent on water levels.
